_ABOUT

ARISTIDE is a French brand specializing in high-end accessories, with renowned expertise in leather glovemaking. Founded in 2010 in Nîmes by self-taught designer Bertrand Mahé.

Originally from the South of France, Bertrand Mahé developed an early interest in contemporary art. Immersed in subcultures, he draws inspiration from them in his works, which he exhibits in galleries. On September 28, 2007, during one of his exhibitions, the director of a French glove house noticed his work and suggested he create a collection. It was at this opportunity that Bertrand discovered the world of glovemaking and the richness of the artisanal steps required to make a leather glove. He was captivated by the precision of the gestures, the preparation of the leather, and the passion of the artisans. Three years later, ARISTIDE was born.

Designed in Paris and crafted in Portugal and the Philippines using traditional techniques, ARISTIDE creations combine precision of technique, high-quality materials, and a contemporary vision. They are essential pieces for any winter wardrobe.

ARISTIDE is now distributed internationally, in the most prestigious brands. Recognized for his avant-garde approach, Bertrand Mahé collaborates with major brands such as Kenzo, JW Anderson, Courrèges, Dries Van Noten, and Raf Simons. In 2022, he received the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris in the Accessories category.

ARISTIDE's universe draws its inspiration from contemporary art, urban subcultures, dystopian futures, and architecture. The glove becomes a hybrid object: at once aesthetic, protective, and functional. The city is perceived as a space of freedom, but also of tension—a playground and a place of resistance.

ARISTIDE embodies a new way of thinking about glovemaking: a bold alliance between artisanal tradition and radical modernity, serving an urban, singular and profoundly contemporary aesthetic.
